net.work. & the two.

Through my ventures I have yet to find a young, cool, great Interior Design social networking website.  There are design sites where us ID’ers can be apart, like Coroflot & design:related, but nothing ID specific.

I stumbled upon Ning.com & thought “Hey, maybe I should just create my own”.  Hmm.  It’s a thought.  Do I really have the time?  Not really.  But would it be a fun task?  SURE.  So, maybe I just will.  & if you would love to help, please, please do.  :)

::Pause

So even though progress on my apartment has really come along, I am deciding to potentially take a slight pause on purchasing a few items, in leiu of the fact that I can get some great, quality, real furniture that is awesome as hell & very inexpensive through work instead of everyone has the same thing junky Ikea furniture

I may still buy the Ikea vanity (& make it a desk) that I was considering, just because I want some instant gratification, but I’m not sure just yet

Just another perk of my new awesome job–I love the design work there, yay

A few things I spied online a while back and then saw in store at Target & had to snag up before they were all gone (designs by John Derian for Target):

The alphabet tray (that I loveeee love love love) is in my bedroom with my perfume on it, etc and the two prints are side  by side in my bathroom.  I wanted to get some unique, handmade pieces of work for the bathroom, but I saw these and am a big fan of John Derian so their vintage appeal had to come home with me :)

More reasons to love Mike Perry & his illustrations:  wallpaper!

Cure for the common frame

I am not into having picture frames scattered all over my house, but I do love to have images of my friends and around, so to me this is a great alternative (creative & unique too)  :)

I may just do this

not decorating, design

Reblogged from ameubanks

As stated by the National Council for Interior Design Accreditation (NCIDQ):

“Interior design is a multifaceted profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure to achieve a built interior environment. These solutions are functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants and are aesthetically attractive. Designs are created in response to and coordinated with the building shell, and acknowledge the physical location and social context of the project. Designs must adhere to code and regulatory requirements, and encourage the principles of environment sustainability. The interior design process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process, whereby the needs and resources of the client are satisfied to produce an interior space that fulfills the project goals.”

It’s not just putting together an “accent color”, a pillow and matching “curtains”, if done correctly, with space planning, research and knowledge,  it’s design

days off

Marshall had a few days off from base this weekend so I took the time to head out and bring him back from fort benning, ga to Charlotte. We are enroute back to base right now. We had such a great time with each other as usual, I don’t wanna give him back! Wahhhhh! Atleast I get a trip to Ikea and a night in Atlanta with Samantha out of it. ;)

I’m making progress on my new apartment design too, which feels great! I got the two walls that I wanted to paint transformed to shamrock green and my empty ornate frames painted and up over the sofa. Now I need to get my old Ikea pieces posted on Craig’s list and out of the way! It feels good to make progress :)

A little bit of everything goodness.

Photos and interiors and compositions and stickers….oh MY!

This could be great for down my gallery hall….although I don’t really think it comes in seventeen feet lengths.  Hmm.  Maybe I should rethink that…but something similar…

Oh, I love this one below…

I’ve seen this one before:

I think this one below may be a winner for the hall.  It reminds me of the designs in the new parking garages Uptown that I love.  It’s also Urban, a throwback to the style my apartment complex is going for.

I need something unique, interesting, and temporary.  It has to be somewhat simple, considering the hallway is so long and rather narrow (3 feet or so) so you really never get a full on view of it.  Ideas?

There is all SORTS of great stuff here (found it from the photography, got hooked on it all):

Picking up a few things here and there.

I have been doing a little shopping for my the new look of my apartment, getting inspired online and doing a bit of shopping from my favorite sites.  I went into Apple tonight to get an internal hardrive for my poor Macbook, but they didn’t have any, so I had to spend money elsewhere.  I did a quick run through at Urban Outfitters, (I couldn’t hit up my Anthro, the mall was about to close) and snagged two of these in a different print:

One is green with a squirel and the other is illustrations of leaves in different colors.  Tres cool.  :)   I am going to search my favorite handmade site for some interesting prints, kinda like this one by Amy Walsh:
